New Jersey Tasting

Some brief notes:

Double Platinum Blond Hefe-Weissen: a little bland for my tastes but quite drinkable.

Imperial Pilsner: very nice with a slight smokiness and kind of a rich earthy undertone. This would be a good food beer, especially with spicy food.

Mai Bock: pleasant, less bland than the Blond, with a certain spiciness, very fresh.

Cricket Hill

Hopnotic IPA: I like this a lot, and just had a 6-pack of it recently. It’s not super hoppy, very nicely balanced.

Smoked Rye Small Batch: good and strong and smoky, a bit toward the whiskey end of the spectrum, though not as much as some of the bourbon barrel ales or that one where the malt was smoked over a peat fire.

Separately, I had one New York beer:

Ommegang Fire & Blood Game of Thrones Red Ale: okay, could any beer live up to THAT name? Damned good beer though…and the name is official, basically a collaboration with HBO.
